Our coaches help students improve critical thinking and writing skills
IN-SCHOOL PROGRAM
Strong writers. Critical thinkers.
Students know something special is about to happen when volunteer coaches arrive. The coaches pair off with their students and then they’re off to work on the teacher’s assignment. Grammar and mechanics are touched upon, but the primary focus is to encourage students to think critically about the writing prompt, organize their thoughts coherently, and then confidently express their unique voice through writing.
Our coaches show up in a way that most students have never experienced. They create a supportive, authentic space where students can speak honestly and openly and don’t need to be afraid to make a mistake. It’s during these meaningful and valuable conversations that the connection happens paving the way for increased learning..

- Every student participates
- Student-coach matches are maintained over 8-10 weeks of coaching
