Young people from under-resourced communities have inspiring stories. Their personal lives and educational journeys have often been full of challenges. Some had to learn to speak English, others worked part-time to support their families, they babysat siblings and found time to play on the football team - all the while working hard at getting good grades. Our coaches agree that the students demonstrate courage, determination, and resilience. They create a trusted space for students to increase their skills at creating personal essays that will make a difference in their college applications.
